Barry Leonard Gardner, 78, a well-known Franklin attorney, died Monday, December 11, 2017, after a brief illness. He was born in Newark, N.J. on October 24, 1939. Barry attended the University Maryland and received his Juris Doctor Degree from University of Memphis. For most of his illustrious law career, he worked as a defense attorney. Barry served in the U.S. Air Force; was a 32nd degree Mason; and member of the National Rifle Association. A unique soul, Barry had a bold, entertaining personality, and enjoyed the great outdoors, including hunting, fishing and boating. Barry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Norma Stanton, three children David Gardner, Michael Gardner, Allison Aufdenkamp, son-in-law Brett Aufdenkamp and his beloved grandchildren Alex Aufdenkamp and Anna Aufdenkamp. Funeral service will be held Thursday, December 14, at 2 p.m. at Congregation Micah in Brentwood, TN. Memorial donations may be made in Barry’s name to St Jude Children’s Hospital and Congregation Micah.
