

Benedict "Benny" Joseph Vigil, age 91, of Gallatin, Tennessee passed away on Sunday, October 9, 2022 in Nashville, Tennessee. He was born on February 28, 1931 in Ignacio, Colorado to the late, Thomas D. Vigil and Irene Martinez Vigil. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Lillian Carol Garrett Vigil; son, Benny Thomas Vigil and daughter, Linda Carol Vigil Hix and his siblings, Agnes Mestas, Abie Vigil, Mary Schneider and Epie Cooper.
Benny is survived by his wife, Joann Vigil of Gallatin, Tennessee; daughters, Theresa (Stephen) Elder-Smith, of Smithville, Tennessee and Kimberly Alexander of Dickson, Tennessee; grandchildren, Shawn
(Shannon) Lovell, Richard (Jennifer) Elder, Joseph (Amanda) Bowers, Amanda (Roger) Cothran, Jessica (Mike) McComb and Gabriel (Chris) Collins; great-grandchildren, Isiah, Jace, Jaelynn, Lillian, Grayson, Rosie, Aubrey, Remy and Mia; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Benny will be remembered as a hardworking and loving man. He enlisted during the Korean War, serving as a paratrooper in the United States Army from 1948 until 1952. After his military career, he began working in meat and butchering trades. Benny retired for Frostymorn (later acquired by Swift) as both a Meat Cutter and delivery driver. He went to work for both the Kroger Company and Sam's Club as a Head Meat Cutter.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held from five until eight in the evening on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home and from eleven o'clock in the morning until time of services at one o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at one o'clock in the afternoon on Thursday, October 13, 2022 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with Interment to follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
