She is survived by her nieces, Debbie Shelton, Dottie Dawson and Pam Dawson (and Gil Gibbs); her nephews, Jay Dawson (and Cindy) and Hank Dawson; her cousins, Bob Duncan, Eddie Teague, Tommy Teague, Melissa Albert and their families.
Bess and Bob were wed on the 11th of March 1944, in Jackson, MS. Though they had no children of their own, they were beloved by their nieces and nephews and countless “adopted children” whose lives they powerfully influenced. Their home was the gathering place for family and friends at the annual Christmas “tree raising” and countless other special occasions. During their 53 years of marriage, Bess and Bob (known as “Pearsall”) together were considered by many to be mentors and models in career and family life.
Bess proudly served as Clinic Manager of Sayers, Duncan & Stevens medical practice for many years. She also served as Credit Manager of Kabinart Corporation. Bess and Bob were avid global travelers, known for planning their next grand excursion while still recovering from the last one. They also loved to garden and took great satisfaction and enjoyment in keeping a beautiful yard and enjoying the wonders of God’s creation.
The family wishes to thank Bess’ caregiver, Sara Yarbrough; devoted friend and neighbor, Delmas Odil; friend and hairdresser, Sarah Jane, with whom Bess had a standing Friday appointment; the Alive Hospice caregivers; and the many friends and neighbors who showed such kindness to Bess during her final months.
A graveside service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park at eleven o'clock on the morning of Monday, the 2nd of December 2013. The family will receive friends at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home two hours prior to the service. Arrangements by: Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Lane, Nashville, TN 37204.
