OBITUARY

Betty Sue ALLEN

March 10, 1941July 25, 2020

Betty Sue Jones Allen, age 80 of Nashville, Tennessee departed this life after a quick, but courageous, battle with brain cancer on Saturday, July 25, 2020. She was born March 10, 1941 in Old Hickory, TN to the late, Malcom & Anna Mae Davis Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 44 Years, Harry Stanley “Stan” Allen, Jr.; her parents Malcolm Jones and Ann Mae Jones; and sisters, Charlene Jones, and Peggy Jones Garrett.

In 1959, Betty Sue graduated DuPont High School in Old Hickory, TN.

Although Betty Sue, Stan, and their children always lived in Green Hills, she was very proud of her Old Hickory roots. She was passionate about tennis. She played at Richland Country Club and Westside Athletic Club. She was a member of the 1995 Nashville USTA tennis team that won the National Tournament. She loved music. She will be remembered for her love of soul, R&B, and Rod Stewart. She also had an amazing eye for fashion and antiques. But, by far most of all, Betty Sue will be remembered for the love she had for her husband, Stan, her children, Trey, Christy, Paul, and her granddaughter, Lilli. She never missed any of their school events or sports. You could always hear Betty Sue cheering in the stands, or spot her walking the sidelines. As her children grew, she continued to be supportive of their professional endeavors. She was always one to encourage, motivate, and challenge her children and Lilli to strive be the very best at whatever you do. She attended Spero Dei Church.

Betty Sue is survived by her daughter, Christy Allen; sons, Trey and Paul Allen; and granddaughter Lillian Margaret Allen.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions will be made to Spero Dei Church, 3701 Park Ave, Nashville, TN 37209.

The family will be honoring her request of a private service.

Loved Betty Sue. Met her when we went to high school. In same home room while in school. She made a speech in my behalf for home room leader. Thought of her often. She had many friends and will surely be missed. May God have her now and watch over her family❤️🙏

My sincere condolences to Christy and the Allen family in the loss of your mother. She was always so kind to me and my family. I remember when my father passed away, without hesitation Betty Sue brought meals over for me and my children. She along with Stan and Christy would attend and cheer on my children at their sporting events. A truly wonderful, loving and caring family. Cherish the sweet memories.

I was on the tennis team with Betty Sue when our team won the USTA National tournament. She was a great player and loved the game. I can hear her saying "eye of the tiger" and "hot coals of fire"...tips for winning & moving our feet.
She was so much fun to be around.
She truly loved all of her family.

Betty Sue enriched my life life. She was always calling me "Honey" and making me me feel like family. We would sit and talk about everything from fashion to old movies. My life won't be the same without her, but I know Heaven has gained a new shining star ( not to mention a fashionista)! God bless Lilli,Christy, Paul and Trey.
