

Betty Lou Sisk Carter entered the Golden Gates of Heaven at the age of ninety-four. She was preceded in death by James Barnett Carter, her husband of 67 years, their daughter Barnetta Carter, her two sisters Lois (Claude) Lane, and Jo Evelyn (Connie) Waller and her parents Rev. E.C. and Byrdie Sisk. She is survived by her daughter Marietta Carter, two sons Clayton (Karlene) Carter and Myron (Nancy) Carter, five grandchildren Katie (Chris) Lambert, Andrew (Taylor) Carter, Kelton Carter, Leah Carter, and Luke Carter, two great great-grandsons Finley and Remy Carter, and sister Martha Randolph.
She received her bachelor’s and master’s degree from Middle Tennessee State University as Magna Cum Laude. She was an educator, teacher, or school librarian for over 30 years primarily with Davidson County Board of Education. She was an excellent seamstress, and an avid reader. She enjoyed chocolate and buying presents for others. She was a faithful servant and loved listening to inspirational music and sermons. In lieu of flowers, please direct donations to the Mission Account at Woodmont Baptist Church, 2100 Woodmont Blvd, Nashville, TN 37215. There will be a private family burial followed by a Celebration of Life Service at Woodmont Baptist Church at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2025.
