

Mrs. Hobbs was the daughter of the late Dewitt Clinton Thompson Jr. and Mary Gibson Thompson. She was born September 1, 1919, in Nashville, Tennessee. Besides a great love for her family and friends, she enjoyed playing bridge, golf, gardening, and in her later years, watching golf, the Predators, Titans, and Vanderbilt Sports on television.
She is survived by sons Hugh Pershing Hobbs, III (Yvonne), David Thompson Hobbs (Kitty) and daughter Mary Beth Hobbs Christain. Five grandsons: Hugh Pershing “Jay” Hobbs, IV(Angela), Mark Joseph Hobbs, David Thompson Hobbs, Jr. (Jill), Darren Russell Hobbs, and Clay Thompson Christain. Five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sisters-in-law Diana Thompson, Lucille Thompson, and Margaret Cook.
Preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Hugh P. Hobbs, Jr., sister Sue Thompson Fort, brothers Dewitt Clinton Thompson, III, and Hall Williams Thompson.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at the Blakeford Green Hills for their kindness and support for Mrs. Hobbs the past several years.
A celebration of Mrs. Hobbs’ life will be Friday, February 13th at Twelve O’clock at the First Presbyterian Church, Stanford Chapel on Franklin Road. Visitation will be held prior to the service from Ten O’clock to Twelve Noon in the Cheek House. Grandsons and great Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
