Betty Jo Patton, age 87, passed away September 19, 2018. Born June 11, 1931 to Gaston Ben and Mary Birdie Wood in Guntown, MS graduated as valedictorian of Cedar Hill High School in Tupelo, MS and went on to study at Union University in Jackson, TN
Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Maxie O. Patton, Jr. Survived by sister, Mary Jane Whaley, St. Louis, MO; children Maxie O. Patton, III and Melanie Patton Jackson (Jim), both of Nashville, TN; grandchildren Kristen Ferrell (Randall), Courtney Robertson (Joseph), Jordan Patton, Rachel Patton, Hunter and Benjamin Jackson. She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren.
She was a member of the Friendship Sunday school class at Lincoya Hills Baptist church, we she was a member for 43 years. Prior to Lincoya, Betty and Maxie were members of Donelson View Baptist church. She was President of Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity while at Union University.
Among Betty’s loves in life were her family and friends, grandkids, cooking, church, clothes, shoes and chocolate!
Visitation will be Monday, September 24, from 4-8:00 pm at Hibbett & Hailey Funeral Home, 429 Donelson Pike, Nashville.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 25th, 11:00 am at Lincoya Hills Baptist Church, 3143 McGavock Pike, Nashville, TN. Burial to follow at Hermitage Memorial Gardens.
Serving as pallbearers will be Hunter and Benjamin Jackson, Nathan Whaley, Randall Ferrell, Joe Robertson & Steve Hall.
