Betty lived with a steady, generous spirit—one marked by quiet faith, a kind heart, and a compassion that made others feel seen and cared for. She worked hard throughout her life, giving of herself in ways both practical and tender, and she was deeply beloved and cherished by those who had the joy of knowing her.
Betty retired from American Airlines, where she served as a club coordinator. In that role, her natural warmth and selfless attentiveness were evident—she brought care and order to her work, and she did so with the same sincerity she offered to family and friends.
Outside of work, Betty’s sense of adventure shone through in the life she built and the things she loved: traveling, gardening, and flipping homes. She found meaning in creating beauty, in nurturing what was growing, and in turning a house into something renewed. Above all, her family was her heart, and she also held deep affection for her beloved pet, Pandy.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Ruby Melson Franks; brother, Billy Ray Franks; and sisters, Charlene Brown and Hazel Brown.
She is survived by her sons, Ricky L. (Shelly) Underwood and Ronnie D. (Tara) Underwood; grandchildren, Nicole (John), Tyler (Samantha), Calli (Gahen), Cassidy, Joshua (Pricila) and Jonathan; great-grandchildren, Emma, Sofia, Johnny, Tucker, Saraya, Aliyah, Megan and Teddy; her sister, Ginger Jackson; and a host of nieces and nephews.
