

Calvin Skirvin, age 88, died June 18, 2026. Born July 11, 1937, in Ghent, Kentucky, Calvin lived a life marked by steady work, deep devotion to those he loved, and a faith that helped carry him through life’s hardest seasons. His resilience and quiet bravery were evident in the way he met both joy and sorrow, and in the enduring commitment he showed to family, community, and the values that guided him. Calvin was a resident of Nashville, Tennessee.
Calvin married Virgina on January 17, 1970, and together they shared a bond rooted in loyalty and steadfast care. He was also connected to the Claiborne Masonic Lodge, reflecting a life that valued fellowship, service, and responsibility to others.
Calvin was preceded in death by children, Gary Skirvin, Dennis Skirvin, Pamela Rose Skirvin, Darrel Skirvin and wife, Virgina Skirvin.
Calvin is survived by son, James (Susan) Skirvin; grandchildren, Mark Skirvin, Constance, Shawna, Jamie, Mellisa, Phillip, Angela, Dawn, Christopher, Amanda, Stella, Krystal, Pamela; great-grandchildren, Shaun, Breyan, Ayvelynn, Leah, Delilah, Hannah, Christy, Cynthia, Jennifer, Dennis, Pricillia Jo, Cindy, Tabitha, Edward; and brother, Louis Skirvin, Jr.
A Graveside Service will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204 at 2:00 PM on Monday, June 22, 2026.
Calvin will be remembered with respect and gratitude—for the strength he carried, the devotion he gave, and the faithful presence he was to those who knew and loved him.
