Carl W. Hendricks, age 86, of Bon Aqua, Tennessee, passed away on September 7, 2026. He was born in Nashville, Tennessee, on July 19, 1940, and was a 1959 graduate of Howard High School in Nashville, Tennessee.
Carl was married to his beloved wife, Sheila Young. He enjoyed building things and is fondly remembered as “liking to make sawdust.” Carl had a special talent for making Christmas decorations and took great pride in creating them. For many years, his beautiful Christmas decorations earned him a spot in the top five of Channel 5 News’ Christmas decoration competition. A devoted Vanderbilt fan, Carl enjoyed cheering on the Commodores and supporting his favorite team. In his younger years, he also enjoyed square dancing, creating many fond memories along the way.
He was a devoted member of Judson Baptist Church, where his faith was an important part of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. Hendricks and Katherine Hendricks; his brother, John B. Hendricks Jr.; and sister, Helen Sleaman.
Carl will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Sheila Hendricks; his sons, Carl W. Hendricks Jr. and Mark Hendricks; nephews, Richard "Bennie" Hendricks; Caleb Young; Scott Young; and Jarrett Young and his family and friends who will cherish the memories they shared with him.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home, 660 Thompson Ln., Nashville, TN 37204. A funeral service will begin at 2:00p at the same location followed by entombment.
