

Carmen Otto “Cacky” Morrissey, Nashville, TN, age 77, passed away January 25, 2017 unexpectedly while recovering from a brief illness. She is preceded in death by her parents Madeleine Enneking Otto and Joseph Albert Otto, and eleven of her twelve siblings in the Otto clan. Survived by her husband, James G. Morrissey, sons John Morrissey, Mike (Emily) and Ted (Jan), daughters, Katy (Pete Selover) and Maria Morrissey; 11 grandchildren – MacKinnon, Elliott, Laney, Lisey, Lilly, Sarah and Knox Morrissey, Natalie, Andrew and Kate Selover and Nicholas Kohler; brother, John Bernard (Sheila) Otto; sister-in-law, Norma Otto and many, many nieces and nephews.
She was a wonderful wife and an incredible mother and grandmother, a favorite aunt and a devout, lifelong Catholic. Cacky was a beloved part of every milestone in her grandchildrens’ lives whether she was babysitting, cheering at athletic events, or supporting their school endeavors. She had a warm personality and a generous nature that always included care, love and her famous cinnamon rolls for any friend or family member in need. There was never a more dedicated, thoughtful friend than Carmen.
“Mrs. Morrissey” dedicated over 27 years to Montgomery Bell Academy where she became a second mom to so many of “her boys.” She served as an assistant in the Junior School and Athletic Office and could be found day and night doing anything and everything needed to ensure things ran smoothly. After retiring, she remained active with her grandchildren and helping with estate sales with her dear friends. Until her final days, Carmen lived a full life with a love for family, her faith, and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10am Monday, January 30, 2017 at St. Henry Catholic Church. Burial will follow at 2pm in Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Sunday, January 29, from 4pm until 7pm, with a rosary at 7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Cecilia Academy at 4210 Harding Pike. The family would like to thank her caregivers and the family and friends that visited, sent cards, or brought food during her illness.
