Ashley Caroline White Lindsey of Nashville, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on March 22, 2026. Caroline was born in Gadsden, Alabama on September 10, 1969. She grew up in Decatur, Alabama and graduated from Decatur High School in 1987.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Graphic Design from the University of Alabama in 1991, where she was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority. Following graduation, she lived and worked in New York, Nashville, and Huntsville, Alabama. She met her husband, Burk, while at Alabama, and after dating long distance for several years, they relocated to Nashville and married in 1998.
Caroline was deeply engaged in her community and gave generously of her time and energy to others. In her early years in Nashville, she was a member of the Junior League of Nashville and contributed to several philanthropic efforts, including The Antiques and Garden Show and Meals on Wheels. During the years her children were in school, she was an active and devoted presence—serving as a room mother, volunteer, and committee chair for events such as the St. George’s Kindergarten Dragon Bash, The Harding Academy Art Show, and Montgomery Bell Academy’s Endada and New Student Orientation. She found great delight in helping with Harpeth Hall mixers and chairing father-daughter dances, where she both gave and received great joy and light through the relationships she formed. These roles provided a meaningful outlet for her enthusiasm and selfless spirit and helped foster a wide and lasting circle of friendships.
She was also a faithful and active member of St. George’s Episcopal Church, where she volunteered her time, participated in several Bible study groups, helped teach children’s Sunday school and Vacation Bible School classes, served on the Outreach Committee and arranged flowers for the Table. She was a devoted Daughter of the King. She was deeply inspired through these activities and formed wonderful friendships with an extraordinary group of women whom she cherished dearly. Throughout her life, she remained a serious and devout student of her faith.
Caroline loved her children with a depth and intensity that defined her life. She chose time with them above all else, treasuring each moment and taking immense pride in the people they were becoming -- especially in the character, kindness, and compassion that defined each of them. She was never happier than when spending time with them, whether one-on-one or together as a family. She cherished her role as their mother and saw it not only as a privilege, but as the highest calling of her life.
Caroline is survived by her husband of twenty-eight years, Evan Burk Lindsey; her sons, Benjamin Burks Lindsey and Samuel Evans Lindsey; and her daughter, Charlotte Emmeline (“Emme”) Lindsey. She was preceded in death by her father, Dr. William David White of Decatur, Alabama, and is survived by her mother, Charlotte Snead White of Nashville, Tennessee, as well as her sisters, Kimberly White Holbrook (Jimmy) of Nashville, Tennessee, and Courtney White Lewis (Scott) of Huntsville, Alabama, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at St. George’s Episcopal Church on Friday, March 27th at 12:30pm, with a reception and visitation following the service at Belle Meade Country Club from 1:30 – 3:30pm. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to St. George’s Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Pike, Nashville, TN 37205 or Alive Hospice, 1718 Patterson Street, Nashville, TN 37203. We are so thankful for the love and prayers shared for Caroline, whose kindness, joy and light touched so many.
