

Charles John Dlugoleski Dougles “Chickie” was born October 24, 1941, in Torrington, CT, to John M. and Helen (Giampaolo) Dlulgloeski. He passed away July 19, 2023 in Nashville, TN. He will be remembered as a loving husband, and a devoted father and grandfather.
In 1961, Charles was drafted to serve in the United States Army and was assigned to Berlin, Germany for duty as a guard for the constructed Berlin Wall. Following his military service, he worked as a master craftsman in and around the area of Hartford, CT building custom homes. He was chosen as a young carpenter and stair builder to complete work assignments for a company specializing in remodeling and restoring historic homes in Connecticut.
In his early forties, Charles decided on a new career path. He attended ITT College and earned a degree in electronic engineering in1990. He received an award for his grades and his attendance, never missing one day of his classes.
In his free time, Charles enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking, rock-climbing, fishing, and snow-skiing with his children, Michael and Gina. He excelled as an artist, working with watercolors, paintings, and creating stained-glass pieces.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Margaret Ruth (Galitello) Miller Dougles; his son, Michael Dlugoleski; grandson, Jake Neadau (son of Gina Neadau); stepchildren Jeffery (Susan) Miller, Julie (Bobby) Deakins; grandchildren David Miller, Michael Miller, Christopher Miller, Tyler (Elizabeth) Deakins, Leslie (Jon) Gautsch, Hayden Deakins, and Leah Ashley Deakins; three great grandchildren; also many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Gina Neadau; parents, John and Helen Dlugoleski; and brother, James Dlugoleski.
Private services with military honors were held in Nashville, TN at the Nashville National Cemetery on August 11, 2023.
