Charles Meredith Strong, 66 of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on August 18, 2024. He was born on November 27, 1957 in Nashville, Tennessee to the late Billy “Papa Bill” Strong and Virginia Clerici “MiMi” Strong. He was their only son. Charles loved his mother very much who survives him. He faithfully checked on MiMi daily no matter what. MiMi would call Charles every morning at 7:45am and he wouldn’t allow anything no anyone keeping him from missing that phone call. Every evening at 5:30pm, Charles would call MiMi no matter what in order to check up on her. Charles had the most loving and happy parents. MiMi would refer to Charles as her “Old Maid” as her nickname for him due to the fact he made sure she didn’t want for anything.
Charles graduated from McGavock High School and received Certification from Auto Diesel College at an Auto Technician. During his time in high school he would be seen wrestling on the wrestle team and never once did he lose a match. Charles was a man of immense humor, wisdom, strength and cherishing every moment spent with family and friends yet especially with the love of his life. Since 2008, the love of Charles’s life was Lacie Krantz whom was his fiancé. Charles had a career as a CDL Tarmac Driver at UPS, located at White Creek Pike in Nashville. There he was know by everyone he worked with as “Yard Dog”. After 43 years of service to UPS, Charles retired.
Charles had a mail aphobic so therefore Crystan was on mail duty always which mean she was responsible for checking the mail daily. She also had to open his mail and manage his bills, appointments, finances and keeping track of everything within his life. Charles sacrificed everything in his entire adult life in order to provide for his twin daughters, Crystal and Crystan. He put them both through Pioneer Christian Academy for a good education. He was beyond proud to be their father and worried daily about them. He would often tell them that they couldn’t drive in any dangerous weather rather it be raining, hailing or snowing. He would tell them to check in often when they would be on trips outside of Nashville. Crystal and Crystan had to tell him which hotel they were staying at with the complete address and phone number along with room numbers. In his eyes even if they were 40 years old he still treated them as his babies and provided for them, check on them and loved them dearly with his entire soul. Charles always said, “I need to check on my girls” and “I love my girls”. Crystal and Crystan are both like their father in different ways. Crystal was his daughter that he stayed worried about most for to him she was delicate and fragile. Crystan on the other hand was just as strong willed and determined as he was which she was known to have no filter with him that didn’t surprised him one bit. He raised them both to stand on virtue, honesty and trustworthiness. His love was kind, genuine, true, so pure and golden.
Charles never met a stranger and treated everyone with respect as well as kindness for he saw the good in everyone. He never spoke unkind words of anyone or to anyone nor would he ever engage in gossip. He would say that you don’t speculate on anyone nor repeat yourself. He was the most courageous fearless hard working selfless man and it was a true blessing to be loved by as well as to know him. Charles had a passion for hunting, fishing, camping, boating and wrestling. Anything dealing with outdoors Charles loved to do. He was an avid dog lover of many dogs and his current dog, “Izzy” would go anywhere Charles went. Izzy is 22 years old. Charles truly loved his family yet his most of all his mom, his twin girls and his grandchildren.
Charles was survived by his twin girls, Crystan Leigh Strong Taylor and Crystal Lynn Strong; his grandchildren, Kaylee, Kayden, Kayson, Dewayne, Addison and Nevaeh; his loving mother, Virginia Clerici “MiMi” Strong; his fiancé, Lacie Krantz; his siblings, Shearon Stephens (Buzz) and Sandra Strong.
