

CANTRELL, Charlotte Mary Elizabeth Deckert, beloved wife of 66 years with James C. (Jim) Cantrell went peacefully to be with the Lord on Monday, September 16, 2013 after a brief illness. She lived in Nashville, TN from 1957 to present. She delighted in making the world a more beautiful place through her cooking, gardening, being a girl scout leader, teaching children’s Sunday school, a pink lady at Baptist Hospital. She was an avid reader, using the church and public library. She liked to travel. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Conrad Deckert and Ethel Hupka Deckert of Baltimore, Maryland. Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband, James C. Cantrell (Jim); her children, Charlotte Ann Carlyle (John), of John’s Creek, GA, John W. Cantrell (Rhonda) of Charlotte, NC, and Robert D. Cantrell (Carmine) of Murfreesboro, TN; grandchildren, Harrison Howie, Holden, Cooper and Kinsley Cantrell, and Robert James; great grandchildren, Allaire and Gage. A graduate of East High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Charlotte worked at the Social Security Administration in Baltimore until she married. She and Jim met at a Masonic Lodge dance for service men. Charlotte was a long time member of Woodmont Baptist Church, enjoying the fellowship of her many friends, singing in Joy choir. She loved her Golden Rule Sunday School class. The church played a very important role in her spiritual life. A visitation will be held from four until eight o’clock in the evening on Wednesday, the 18th of September, 2013 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home. A funeral service will be officiated by Dr. Roebuck and Dr. Sherman at eleven o’clock in the morning on Thursday, the 19th of September, 2013 at Woodmont Baptist Church with visitation held one hour prior to the service. Interment to follow in Middle TN State Veterans Cemetery on McCrory Lane.
