Chris was born on May 1, 1986 and he joined a family with three older sisters – Meredith, Margaret and Caitlin. He spent his early years in Nashville and attended St. Bernard Academy, Overbrook School and Stokes Elementary. He moved with his parents to Decatur, Georgia, and finished high school in Bradenton, Florida at The Pendleton School where he pursued his dream of playing golf in college, which he realized briefly at Spring Hill College, Mobile, Alabama. He continued college at Middle Tennessee State University and Austin Peay State University.
Chris had many passions – the Appalachian Trail, golf, and searching various paths in his life. He was a very bright student; he read widely and was passionate in arguing an interpretation; and he was relentless in stressing the cultural significance of Hunter S. Thompson. Golf was his retreat from the puzzles of everyday life, and he often said that he was restored by meditative sessions on the practice range, and equally restored on section hikes with his father and family on the Appalachian Trail in Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia.
He will be deeply missed by his Mother and Father, and his sisters. He left us too soon.
A funeral Mass for Chris will be celebrated on Saturday, September 12, at 6:30 p.m. at Christ the King, 3001 Belmont Blvd., Nashville, TN 37212.
In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution in his name to the Appalachian Trail Conservancy, P.O. Box 807, 799 Washington Street, Harpers Ferry, WV 25425 or to the First Tee, 425 South Legacy Trail, St. Augustine, FL 32092.
