Cate McMahon Blount, 37, left us too soon this past Monday morning, April 28, 2014. The place she held in the world, our world, was significant. She was a steadfast and tenderhearted mother, a loving wife, a dedicated sister, an affectionate daughter, a true blue friend, and definitely one of a kind. Cate was grounded, opinionated, matter of fact, and funny, too. She was an anchor and a rock for her family and friends, a steady force of generosity and good will. Cate's various passions included...the colors purple and green, Camp Nakanawa, her school chums from Grier, testing out new recipes, educating children, bargain shopping, holidays, Ireland, Scotland, bare feet, the beach, Renaissance fairs, Celtic music, ferrets, The Little Engine That Could, bandanas, Farmville, KinderCare, dance, Monteagle, cruises, butterflies, Valkyries, family, family, family.... When you think of Cate, you think of how she treasured family and family gatherings. She actively enjoyed family traditions, family holidays, genealogy, hands on children activities, village-sized family potlucks, and stuffing dozens of stockings at Christmastime. Cate delighted in the big family events, but Cate also found a deep fulfillment, pride, and happiness with her blended family of husband, Chris, daughter, Clata, baby Lauren, and stepson Austin. Cate loved and is loved by so many. She had a big heart. She was good.
