April 29th, 2020 at 12:46 am. She was 73 years old.
A native of Nashville, Cora was born on September 21, 1946 to Jewell and Dorris Calvin, Sr. At
eight years old, her family moved to Crieve Hall where she met and later married a
neighborhood boy, Ronnie Dickson, at the tender age of 17 on November 9, 1963. They spent
the next 56 years living their best life, loving as passionately as they fought, both possessing the
grit needed to stick together no matter what obstacles they faced.
Cora was a majorette at Overton High School and graduated in the class of 1964. She retired
from a successful career as an Administrator for Emergency Physicians Billing Service. She was
founder and President of the Red Hat Society Brentwood Chapter, Maxie Mini Me’s and served
several years as activity & membership chairman for the Music City Chapter of the Harley
Davidson owners’ group. She and Ron are members of Crosspoint Church. She was a lover of
life with a bold and kindhearted personality. A definite force to be reckoned with, and fierce
when it came to anyone crossing her family. She was confident and sassy, always knowing what
she wanted and often certain she knew what you needed better than you. Her personality filled
a room and everyone she met felt her warm hospitality, genuine compassion, and knack for
witty banter.
She is survived by her husband Ron Dickson, her daughter Renee, son-in-law Don Marsee, three
grandchildren Cody Marsee, Justin Marsee, Makala Marsee, one great grandson Jett Everett
Marsee, two brothers Brownie Calvin (Sandy) and David Calvin (Lucie).
Cora’s final wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life is being planned for a later date.
Finalized details will be posted on her Facebook page, which will remain open for everyone to
share any thoughts, stories, or photos. In lieu of flowers, we ask donations to be made to
