

GREGORY, Dan Wilson age 92 passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus Christ. Preceded in death by beloved wife of 68 years Janet. Survived by children Shelby Michael Gregory & Wende Gregory –Frei, sister, Rachel Harting. Dan was a graduate of Murray State University. Dan was a combat wounded 5th marine 155th artillery veteran he survived Leyte Gulf invasion. In Dan’s marine years his fame was he placed the welcome sign on the beach for General Douglas McArthur. He loved the environment, gardening, fishing, people, animals, birds & golf. After retiring from Genesco Dan divided his time between Cedar Creek Club and the Florida Keys. Dan & Janet noticed that the ospreys (fish hawks) nesting sites were disappearing. He convinced the telephone company to reinstall the wooden poles they had been removing and replacing with concrete poles. They reestablished the ospreys in the Lower Keys. Dan helped found and fund the Lebanon Humane Shelter. A graveside service will be conducted 2 pm November 5th at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the Lebaon Humane Society in Dan’s honor.
