Danny, a native of Nashville, grew up in the Christ the King parish and graduated in 1960 from St. Bernard in Cullman, Alabama. He attended Cumberland University and Middle Tennessee State University. Early in his life with Peggy, Danny was a businessman as they lived in Nashville and Knoxville, Tennessee, Boston, Massachusetts, and Cincinnati, Ohio, before returning to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, with A.O. Smith. Danny later worked many years for A+ Communications before returning to school to pursue a Masters in Teaching. He graduated with a Master’s in Teaching from Tennessee State University and then spent 10 years teaching in the Metro Public School, beginning at W. A. Bass Middle School and ending his career at Antioch High School.
Danny enjoyed his long life with his wife Peggy and their children. Danny rarely, if ever, missed one of his children’s school related or extra-curricular activities. He would often be heard loudly cheering for them as they competed in a wide variety of sports. Danny was extremely proud of his wife and family. According to Danny, the Hiller’s Family prayer was, “Today is the day that we make someone’s wish come true.” Danny, a tenacious and generous man, lived by three priorities: God, family, and self. Danny is loved and will be missed by many.
