was a graduate of Hillwood High School and The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Known as
a kind and generous man, he used his love of humor and family to guide his adventures in life.
Danny was the founder and President of Tip-A-Canoe Stores, Inc. and had operated it with his
family since 1972. He was a partner in creating Custom Fiberglass Products in Mount Juliet, TN,
founded Balloons by the Bunch in downtown Nashville, and operated the first TN Lottery in the
state. He loved to explore the United States travelling by road with his family. Best of all, he
loved being “Popz” to his granddaughter, Sarah Kate.
Danny was preceded in death by his parents, Lt. Col. (ret) Frank Allen Spear and Nova
Dulworth Spear; sisters, Mary Stamps, Reba Hagewood, and Clara Cundiff; and brother, Frank
Allen Spear, Jr. He is survived by his wife of forty-seven years, Bonnie Spear; his daughter,
Carol Spear-Johnson (D.J.); his son, David Spear; and his granddaughter, Sarah Kate Johnson.
Danny also leaves behind extended family members, trusted friends, and many others whose
lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Danny may be made to Alive Hospice, Inc. or The
Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
A Memorial Service will be held via Zoom Tuesday, December 8, at 3:00 p.m., CST.
