CULLUM, Col. David Anderson (Retired), David was born on September 12, 1933. He graduated from Hillsboro High School and Middle Tennessee College. He worked for Third National Bank and later in transportation. He was an active member of First Lutheran Church and served on the church council and several committees. He was a Stephen Minister. David served in the U. S. Army both active and reserve for 22 years. During his last few years, he commanded nine different units located in Middle Tennessee, Memphis and North Alabama. He was very involved at MTSU for many years. He served as President of the Alumni Association and later became the only permanent member of the National Board. He was President of the Blue Raider Athletic Association and the President of the MTSU Foundation. He was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joan Pinson Cullum; daughters, Lisa Brace (Douglas) and Laura Hood (Keith); son, Mark Cullum (Cecilia); grandsons Jason Brace (Christie) and Zach Hood; granddaughter, Rachael Sullivan.
Visitation 1-2 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7th at First Lutheran Church with Memorial Service to follow at 2.
