He is survived by his older sister Clarice Falconer of Southport, NC, his devoted Niece Kathryn (Kaye) Hailey Petersen (Dan) of Mt Juliet, TN, Nephews: Robert B Hailey of St Augustine, FL, Randy Hailey (Rhonda) of Mt Juliet, TN, Donn Falconer (Tammi) of Gig Harbor, WA. Neices: Tami Falconer of Southport, NC, Jilleen Russell (Richard) of Kapaau, Hawaii, Heather Hailey of Crossville, TN.
7 great nieces and nephews, 7 great, great nieces and nephews and a few close friends. And his cat, Kathie.
David was a graduate of Hillsboro High School in Nashville and served in the U.S. Army and Army Reserves during the Vietnam War area, spending most of his enlistment in Chinon, France and Fort Polk, Louisiana He remained very proud of his time served. He attended Belmont Baptist Church most of his life and lived in the same home for over 78 years. After 30+ years working in various jobs at Malone & Hyde/Fleming Companies in Nashville, he retired.
He was a long time member of the Amateur Ham Radio Operators Association and communicated with people all over the world and has the shortwave postcards to prove it. He became penpals with several people and continued emails with friends made in Malaysia, New Zealand, Rwanda, France and Germany until his death. Many of those with whom he communicated visited him and David was happy to show them Music City.
David loved to travel and visited all the continental United States with family and friends over his lifetime.
As a big fan of David Lipscomb sports, he attended most baseball and basketball games over the past several years, appreciating the friends there who looked after him..
He also loved fast cars and country music, and was an avid collector of autographs, music media and eagles of all kinds, as well as several other items. He loved to go to the flea market and made friends there as well. In his own way, he loved his home, his cat, his friends, family and his country.
