A Middle Tennessee resident since 1950, David was best known as the owner of The House of Bamboo, an Asian gift and furniture store located in Hillsboro Village until 1995. An award-winning watercolorist, he was also an active member & leader in the Tennessee Arts League.
Born in Bowman, CA but raised in Japan, David returned to the US shortly before World War II, & spent several years during the war in a Japanese-American internment camp in Tule Lake, CA. He later became a chicken sexer & traveled around the Southeast serving various farms, until finally settling in Nashville.
David is preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Betty M. Ikeda. He is survived by his son Brian, his wife Page, & their daughter Olive.

Visitation will be held at two o’ clock in the afternoon until four on Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Woodlawn Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.
A private inurnment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
