

Walsh, Delphia I. Hatcher (Maw Maw) - Age 94. Died suddenly Monday, August 8, 2011. Delphia was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 73 years, Robert Walsh; her parents, Ridley Riley and Ida Hatcher; grandson, Robbie Walsh; sister, Christine Hatcher Walsh; brothers, Earl, Bill, David, and Lawrence Hatcher. She is survived by seven children: JoAnn Aquino of St. Augustine, FL, Bob (Sheila) Walsh of Nashville, TN, Linda Work of Murfreesboro, TN, Tom (Holly) Walsh, Jim (Chrissa) Walsh, Nancy (Bill) Nolan, and Debbie (Tim) Weber of Nashville, TN; 18 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Delphia was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life caring for and nurturing her family. She always thought of others and put their needs before her own. She was an independent person who was an excellent example of strength and determination to her friends and family. Delphia was known for her quick wit and keeping everyone on their toes.
As a homemaker, she was an expert seamstress who loved quilting and enjoyed sharing her craft with others. She was known for her wonderful Southern cooking, especially for her delicious chocolate meringue pies. Delphia was a faithful parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church for 65 years. She was a former employee of W.T. Grant Department Store.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 11, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church, 5101 Charlotte Ave., Rev. Phillip Breen Celebrant. Visitation 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, August 10, 2011 and 1 hour prior to Mass in the Parish Life Center at St. Ann Church. Rosary at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment at St. Patrick's Cemetery, McEwen, TN at 4 p.m. Family members will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ann School. Arrangements under the direction of Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home, Nashville, Tennessee.
