

Diane, affectionately known as “Dee,” graduated from West High School. She went on to graduate magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University in 1948 and later earned her Master’s in Library Science from Peabody. She served as a librarian with Nashville Metro Schools and as Director of Children’s Services for the Nashville Public Library from 1961 to 1992.
A great heart centered: A Spirit-filled, initiative-taking Christian; large, effective works of leadership wrapped in a small, adventurous package; a joyful lover of travel, reading, the outdoors, and church; a mother whose love was thoughtful and ever constant; a friend to count on; a woman of serious intent and easy laughter; a joy to be remembered with sublime gratitude.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husbands, Edward “Ed” T. McNabb, with whom she shared nearly six decades of marriage until his passing in 2007, and Robert “Bob” Batey, whom she married in 2008 and remained with until his passing in 2018.
Survived by her son, The Rev. Edward T. McNabb, Jr.; daughter, Margaret Louise McNabb; grandchildren, Molly Ginn; Mitchell Wilson; Tay McNabb; and Elizabeth Jarvis; great-grandchildren, Grayson Ethridge; Emerson Etheridge; Solomon Jarvis; Judah Jarvis; and Elsie McNabb; and nephew, The very Reverend David DuPlantier of New Orleans.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, at 10:00 AM at Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 1216 Sneed Rd W, Franklin, TN 37069.
A Committal Service will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2:30 PM at Harpeth Hills Memory Gardens 9090 TN-100, Nashville, TN 37221.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Church Cathedral Nashville.
