

Don was born in Nashville, TN, to Walter Glenn Farrar and Lillian Turner Farrar on January 14, 1935. He grew up on Cantrell Avenue and attended Woodmont Baptist Church. He graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1953. On August 12, 1954, he was drafted into the United States Army for the Korean War. He served two years of active duty in Germany, followed by six years in the Army Reserves until July 31, 1962. He graduated from Belmont University with a bachelor’s degree in business administration on May 31, 1963.
Don was a talented athlete and excelled as a baseball pitcher for Hillsboro High School and Belmont University. He loved sports and was a lifelong fan of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. He held season tickets to their football games for 40 years (1966–2006). Many wonderful family memories were made during those years.
After graduating from college, he worked for the railroad before starting his career at the Tennessee Prison for Women, where he served as Associate Warden of Administration from 1968 till1992. He attended Westwood Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon, and later Harpeth Heights Baptist Church. Don was a man of faith and a strong believer who loved the Lord.
Don is preceded in death by his parents, Walter Glenn Farrar and Lillian Turner Farrar; brother, Walter Glenn Farrar Jr.; sister, Margaret Ham; brother-in-law, Howard Ham; and sisters-in-law, Teena Farrar, Bonnie Farrar, and Dee Farrar.
Don is survived by his children: daughter Stephanie Farrar (Scott) MacLaughlin; son Stephen Clark (Kelly) Farrar; brother David Farrar; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nine nieces and nephews.
A private family service will be held at a later date, officiated by Pastor Thomas Franklin.
