Small, Donald E. Born Sept. 24, 1929, died Feb. 17, 2013.Passed quietly at NHC Nursing Home in Franklin, TN. Don had been in ill health since a stroke & broken hip he suffered last April. Preceded in death by parents, Ira & Iva Small. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Virginia A. Small, brother, Larry Small; sister, Gladys Willis & a host of nieces & nephews. He is a native of Cherokee Co., Iowa, where he entered the US Army. Upon his discharge from Ft. Campbell, he lived in Donelson for the remainder of his life. Don retired after 38 years from Avco in 1989, rising from the position of maintenance man to become a General Production Supervisor in charge of over 600 employees. Don was a charter member of Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Donelson, TN. He was a life member of post 88 American Legion & was a member of several camping groups & an avid gardener. Visitation with family will be Wednesday, Feb 20th from 4pm until 8 pm. Funeral Services Thursday, Feb 21st 11 am with interment to follow at Middle TN Veteran Cemetery.
