

Born on March 26, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, Don was the son of George and Mary (Schmidt) Sporleder. Throughout his life, he was known as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and faithful friend.
Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force before beginning a long career as a pressman. He was also an active member of Scenic View Baptist Church, where his faith remained an important part of his life.
He shared a wonderful marriage with his wife, Peggy Jean (Woodall) Sporleder, and together they built a family that remained the center of his life. Known for his strong work ethic, quick wit, and unwavering dedication to his family, Don made everyone around him feel welcome and valued. In his free time, he enjoyed woodworking, watching classic westerns, cheering on his favorite team, the Tennessee Titans, and spending time with those he loved most.
Don is survived by his wife, Peggy Jean (Woodall) Sporleder; his daughters, Deborah (Chuck) Rand and Rhonda Boyd;his sister, Sharon (Dennis) Carey; sister in laws, Terry Sporleder, Sandy Sporleder, Jennifer Good; brother in law, Johnny (Judy) Woodall.
He was especially proud of his grandchildren, Geoff Etheridge, Vince (Christina) Rand, and Hailey (Sam) Stalnaker, and delighted in spending time with his great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kameron, Milo, and McKenzie.
Other than his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Richard and Bob Sporleder; brother in laws, Ronnie Woodall, Bobby Woodall; sister in law, Ella Woodall
Don will be remembered for his steadfast faith, quiet strength, love of family, and willingness to lend a helping hand. His life was a blessing to those who knew him, and his memory will be treasured by his family and friends for years to come.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Mount Olivet Funeral Home. Visitation will take place from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., with the Celebration of Life service beginning at 12:00 p.m. Interment will immediately follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Alive Hospice in Don’s memory.
