Doris Condit (Dorie) Bounds Nashville – Doris Condit Bounds (Dorie) passed away Friday, January 18, 2019. She would have been 98 on March 17, 2019. She was born in Neoga, Illinois to Grant Worth and Elizabeth Elliott Condit. Her daughter Jane Bounds Robinson preceded her in death. Dorie attended Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois during which time she had a role in a film starring William Holden. In 1948 she graduated from the College of Nursing at the State University of Iowa. She loved the nursing profession, and was well suited given her empathetic and kind nature. Dorie was generous in offering her home for community and church events, and entertained with elegance and style. In 1973 she hosted a reception for Apollo 15 astronaut Jim Irwin. At the time of her death she was a member of Cheekwood, Centennial Club and West End United Methodist Church. Her constant faith in God enabled her to persevere through any challenges with which she was presented. She single-handedly raised four children with grace, patience and humor. Dorie is survived by her children: Lynda Gilmore (Martin); G. William Bounds III (Inez); Margaret Carr (Jim); grandchildren: Martin Gilmore III (Amy); William Gilmore (Michelle); Michele Robinson (Benjamin Johnson); Lauren Bounds (fiancé John Gallagher); Whit Carr; Caroline Carr; Abbey Bounds; Wesley Carr; and great-grandchildren: Martin Gilmore IV; Owen Gilmore, Blake Gilmore; Charlie Johnson Robinson; Warren Gilmore; Kacper Johnson Robinson. Many thanks go to her prayer partner, Cathy Black, and her Blakeford friends and staff whom she dearly loved. Her life will be celebrated at The Blakeford Green Hills on Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 1:30-3:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to West End United Methodist Church, Wounded Warrior Project or Nashville Salvation Army.
