We had the privilege of meeting and spending considerable time with Doris when she lived in Hendersonville. She was a loving and caring individual who enjoyed life and often spoke of her granddaughter, Janne, who is to be commended for her loving care of her grandmother. It has been a privilege to know Doris and be called her friends. We will truly miss her.

I had the privilege of meeting Doris only a few years ago. Little did I know how important she would be to me. Even though our age difference was great, we enjoyed each other's company. I appreciated hearing stories of her life & loving family. She truly amazed me by her stamina. Even though she was little, she was mighty. When I lived near her she was trying new recipes. That always surprised me that someone of her age still found things to keep life interesting & purposeful. I feel honored that I had the privilege of her company & that we were friends. I send my sincere sympathy to her family.

I have had the pleasure over many a year of hearing about Janne's Grandma, Doris.
Their travels up from Fla. to Nashville and up to Michigan to visit family and friends(with kitties in tow). How she would make Janne's favorite dish of roast beef and potatoes. Of her faith and resilience, love of reading, her beloved cats and of course her family.
She was very loved and cared for and I know will be missed.

Doris Rockwell came to hear her granddaughter Janne Henshaw and me sing quite regularly, when she was able. She always had interesting things to say. She spoke lovingly of her family, loved trying new recipes, was very handy with a sewing machine, and of course, loved her cat. My heart goes out to the family at this difficult time.
