

Dorotha Gay Sullivan (Dottie), age 80, of Franklin Tennessee, passed away Wednesday, January 24, 2024, in Nashville, Tennessee. Dottie was born to the late Clyde Duke and Lois Stacey Greer on August 23, 1943, in Woodbury Tennessee.
Dottie graduated from Hume-Fogg High School. On August 31, 1963, she married William (Bill) R. Sullivan in Nashville, Tennessee. She worked for the State of Tennessee for the Department of Transportation. Dottie loved being outside, reading, going to movies, and running. She participated in the Tennessee State Park Running Tour for many years. This consisted of 15-20 races in different Tennessee State Parks. Her biggest accomplishment was finishing the Andrew Jackson Marathon where she beat her husband, Bill. Dottie was a member of Bellshire United Methodist Church. She was involved in Sunday school, Vacation Bible School, and the Women’s Group. Dottie was devoted to God, her family, and her friends.
Dottie is survived by her daughter, Kelly (Brian) Sullivan Merz of Franklin, TN; grandchildren, Kaylin (Trey) Merz Sewell of Springhill, TN, and Dylan (Becca) Sullivan Merz of Springhill, TN; great-grandchildren, Kinsley Grace Sewell and twin boys due in April; siblings, Dean (Dixie) Duke of San Angelo, TX, Russell (Naomi) Duke of Manchester, TN and Wanda (Clayton) Duke King of Franklin, TN.
Dottie was preceded in death by her parents Lois and Bill Greer of Manchester, TN, and Clyde Duke. She was also preceded by her beloved husband William Sullivan (Bill) of Goodlettsville TN.
A celebration of life for Dottie will be held Monday, January 29, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A gathering of family and friends will occur Monday, January 29, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204. A graveside service will occur Monday, January 29, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery, 1001 Lebanon Pike, and Nashville, TN 37210.
The family extends many thanks to the memory care nurses and caregivers that helped Dottie through her journey, along with Caris Hospice and Alive Hospice Resident Nashville.
