Dorothy Ann Strange Barrick 94, passed away on March 6, 2020. Dorothy retired from Metro Schools after spending 32 years as a teacher and administrator. She taught Home economics and Science at Cavert and West End High School. She was director of drug education for Metro Schools the last 17 years of her career. Dorothy was an active member of Belmont United Methodist Church since 1947, where she was active in many of the church ministries. She loved to cook, work in her garden and she played tennis regularly well into her 80's. Dorothy was born in Barren Plains TN. She graduated from Tennessee Tech University and received her Masters and PHD in Education from Vanderbilt University.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband of 70 years James (Jim) E. Barrick, and brother Jim Strange.
She is survived by her daughter Sarah Lea Barrick, son Robin Barrick, grandsons Luke and Ryan Barrick.
A gathering of friends and family will be held beginning at noon on Tuesday March 10, 2020 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with a celebration graveside to be held at two o'clock. A memorial service will be held April 23, 2020 at two o'clock at Belmont United Methodist Church. In liu of flowers donations may be made to Belmont United Methodist Church.
