Douglas E. “Bud” Hughes, Jr., age 67, of Lavergne, passed away December 10, 2013.

Bud was preceded in death by parents, Douglas, Sr. and Mildred Vester Hughes.

Survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Gaye Neal Hughes; children, Monica (Phillip) Warren, Melody (Jeff) Peterson and Douglas (Kate) Hughes III.; step-son, Howard (Susan) King; 6 grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Benton of Texas and Elaine Duncan of Nashville.

Bud retired July 30, 2000 after 30 years of service with Bellsouth. He was an active member of Smyrna VFW, Post 8422 and a member of Cumberland Masonic Lodge # 8, Nashville.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Thomas Foundation.

A Celebration of Bud’s Life will take place at 11:00 am, on Saturday, December 28, 2013, at the VFW Smyrna Post 8422, 10157 Old Nashville Highway.
