A Korean war veteran, Mr. Villa served in the U.S. Army from September 28, 1951 – September 23, 1953. He was stationed in Korea with the 536th Engineer Field Maintenance Company. He then married the late Betty Sue Hardy in Birmingham, Alabama on April 30 1955.
Mr. Villa earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University. He retired from the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA)
He was a very hard-working man and wanted to make sure his family was well taken care of throughout his entire life. His heart softened with the arrival of his grandchildren starting with the first born in 1980 through the last born in 1995 with 7 grandchildren in all throughout these years. Even though he enjoyed gardening, playing cards with friends, board games, computer games, jigsaw puzzles and reading, work was his hobby. In his early years, he enjoyed bowling and golfing. After retirement from full time work, he started working contract work with FEMA on an as needed basis. He traveled to many states through the country and enjoyed the different seasons and scenery and enjoyed seeing the local sites in each area. He continued working with FEMA until August of 2015 when he developed acute renal failure due to an auto immune disease that caused him to have to endure kidney dialysis 3 times per week for the remainder of his life.
Mr. Villa attended Mass at St. Luke Catholic Church in Smyrna, TN each Sunday until the onset of COVID in America. He and his wife enjoyed community service teaching children how to better understand the environment.
He is survived by his brother, Vic (Mary) Villa; daughter, Anna (George) Goslowsky, sons, John (Janet) Villa and Rick (Karen) Villa; grandchildren, Katherine, Samantha, Michael, Ashly (Kirk) Shannon, Courtney, Chris (companion, Tamara Crowley) Andrew (Rachel); great-grandchildren, Griffin and Dillon.
