

Edna Gene Little Green, 94, passed away April 14, 2025. The daughter of John Wesley Little and Edna Gunn Little, she attended the Peabody Demonstration School and Ward-Belmont School. She then went on to earn a BA from Vanderbilt University and an MA from Peabody College. A Metro Nashville school teacher for much of her career, she was later the office manager for Champs-Elysées, Inc., a multinational family publishing company. She was an enthusiastic volunteer, helping found Santa's Helpers, a charity that provided toys to children at Christmas, as well as serving as a junior board member of the McNeilly Day Home and as a mentor at the Salvation Army. In her youth, she was president of the Junior Riding Club of Nashville and the Vanderbilt chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. She was a long-time member of the Centennial Club, a former member of Hillwood Country Club, and an avid tennis player and artist. Her paintings hang in several private collections in Nashville and around the country. She additionally was the author of several tracts and books on early childhood education, including Lighting the Lamps, A Parent's Guide to Raising Responsible, Loving Children in Today's World and The Good Life, A Teaching Method for Character Building in the Elementary School.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son, Mark Green, and her brother, Jack Little. She is survived by her son, Wesley Green (Dianne), daughter-in-law, Ellen Green, grandchildren Daniel (Kim) Green, Emily, Caroline, Thomas, Kate, Mary, Virginia, and Cecilia Green, Maude Shane (Dustin), and four great-grandchildren.
A Requiem Eucharist will be held at St. George's Episcopal Church, 4715 Harding Pike, Nashville, on Tuesday April 29, at 1:30 p.m. with visitation starting at 12:30 p.m. in the church's Gathering Space.
