Edward T. Greer, Jr., 97, of Nashville, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020. Ed was born on February 8, 1923 in Nashville, the son of Edward T. Greer, Sr. and Mattie Kittrell. He married Betty Dillion Curtis in Nashville in 1953, and they spent 66 wonderful years together. Surviving is his wife, Betty; daughters, Ann (Johnny) Anderson and Kathy Greer; grandchildren, Aimee Anderson and Billy (Melissa) Anderson; and great-grandchildren, Abby and Brennan Anderson; Caregivers Tomeka Sims and Connie Wentworth. Preceding him in death are his parents; and sister, Loraine Allen. Ed was a smart and hardworking man. He was the first in his family to graduate from high school at the young age of 16. He enlisted in the US Army and served in the 89th Signal Company during World War II in France and Germany; a proud veteran. Following his time in the military, Ed followed his interest in electronics by opening one of the first TV Repair shops in Nashville. He then began his career with the phone company and retired from AT&T after 35 years of service. Ed enjoyed attending the local Telephone Pioneers meetings. He was talented, and creative in his work. He ground mirrors for a telescope he built. In his early years, he and Betty built their own tent camper. She sewed the tent, and he built the rest. He was a talented artist and especially liked using water colors. A man who loved Jesus, Ed taught bible study to those in work release programs and taught 4th Grade Sunday School at Donelson Heights United Methodist Church for over 20 years. He also served as a crisis counselor. Ed was a longtime, founding member of Victory Fellowship Church. He never met a stranger. A loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Ed will be truly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Ed's honor to 2nd Harvest or to the Nashville Rescue Mission.

So sorry to hear of Ed's passing, I first met Ed in 1971 while working at AT&T. We both transferred to South Central Bell and worked in the same group with Jack Holt, Jack Carty, Bill Turner, Ted Cox all AT&T employees that transferred to SCB. All great friends that shared many memories working together. Ed and I worked side by side at the Parklane Building and planned facilities for East Tennessee so I got to know Ed quite well, Ed was one of the finest gentlemen I've ever known and always willing to help anyone in need. I will miss you!
