

Eddie was born on November 21, 1941, in Nashville, Tennessee, to the late Howard Edwin Grant and Jewell Grant. He attended Montgomery Bell Academy high school and later attended Georgia Tech, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He went on to dedicate his life to the family business, Tennessee Electric Motor Company. After taking over the company from his father, Eddie spent his career faithfully operating and growing the business, becoming a respected member of the local business community.
On December 17, 1982, he married, Malene P. Grant, in Brentwood, Tennessee. Their marriage was filled with love, travel, and a deep devotion to family.
Eddie was a member of Brentwood Baptist Church. In his free time, he enjoyed golfing, traveling, and most of all spending time with his family, who were the center of his life. His warmth, dedication, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Malene Grant; children: Valerie Vahling (Gary), Laura Farmer (Geoff), Missy Jones (Doug), Howard Grant (Susan), Sandra Spivey, Judith Redd, and Mark Spivey (Hunter). His beloved grandchildren: Lawson Richardson, Lauren Richardson, Caroline Howard (Michael), Bennett Jones (Charlene), Houston Grant, Piper Spivey, Hayden Redd (Melissa), Wyatt Redd, Jake Redd, Ellen Spivey, and Jack Spivey; and cherished great-grandchildren: Murphy Howard, Emmaline Redd, and Luke Redd.
In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Moulthrop, and his brother, Max Grant.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, US, on March 16, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A private graveside will follow visitation.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Edwin's name may be made to Bridges for Parkinson's or The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
