

Born in Lake Village, Arkansas, in 1930, Ed grew up in Cabot and Conway, Arkansas, where he graduated from Conway High School in 1948. He earned a degree in Forestry from Louisiana State University in 1952 and went on to receive a master’s degree in forestry from Colorado State University in 1956.
Ed proudly served his country in the Army as a Ranger First Lieutenant assigned to the 10th Infantry Division during the Korean Conflict.
His professional career was spent in the container manufacturing industry, where he held roles as a salesman, sales manager, and general manager at plants across Missouri, Texas, Tennessee, and Florida.
A long-time attendee of Presbyterian and Methodist Churches in Memphis, TN., Murfreesboro, TN, And Collierville, TN. Ed was also a dedicated board member of Epworth Church at the Epworth Heights Resort in Ludington, Michigan—a cherished summer destination where he spent 65 consecutive summers.
Ed loved his family dearly and was a wonderful father and husband. He enjoyed raising his two girls and always had adventures planned like fishing, horseback riding, camping, gardening and tennis. And he did the same for all grandchildren and could not wait to wrestle with the great grands. He loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman, camper, tennis player, and golfer. He also enjoyed membership of the University Club in Memphis, TN, Stones River Country Club in Murfreesboro, TN, and Lincoln Hills Country Club of Ludington, MI.
He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Dickey McCain for almost 66 years, daughter of the late attorney Jay W. Dickey Sr. and Margaret Rowell Dickey of Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He also leaves Daughters Margaret (Steve) Lawrence of Ashland City, TN and Kelly (Randy) Day of Franklin, TN; grandchildren Camden (Greg) Minor, Jay (Taylor) Lawrence, Andrew Day, and Kristin Day; and great-grandchildren West, Baylor, and Beckett Minor, and Emerson Lawrence.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marian Cherry McCain Liston of Cabot, Arkansas, and his two brothers, Robert Charles McCain of Denver, Colorado, and Lloyd Breckenridge McCain of Little Rock.
