Elaine Carolyn Bates

Elaine Carolyn Bates, age 76, of Nashville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024. She was born on May 19, 1947 in Nashville, TN to her parents, Delmas Ernie White and Johnnie Ruth (Berryman) White. She graduated from Hume Fogg High School.

Elaine married the love of her life John W. Bates Sr. in 1971 in Nashville. Elaine was a wonderful wife and stepmother to John W. Bates Jr., Anthony Lane Bates and Danny Clark Bates whom she loved and cared for deeply.

She spent her career working at American General Insurance as administrative personnel. Elaine was a devoted member of Brentwood Baptist Church and Park Avenue Baptist Church throughout her life. Her passion was the ministry of sharing the love of God, antiquing and cooking for family and friends.

Elaine is survived by her Stepchildren, John W. Bates Jr. (Claudia). Anthony Lane Bates (Jackie) and Danny Clark Bates (Margot); Grandchildren, Amanda, Wesley, Evan, Sandi, Lane, Kayla, Noelle, Whit and Olivia; Siblings, Clyde Raymond White (Sherry) and Nancy Jeanette Baio; numerous nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her Parents, Delmas Ernie White and Johnnie Ruth (Berryman) White and her Husband, John W. Bates Sr.

A Gathering of Family and friends for Elaine will be held Friday, February 2, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204 with a Celebration of Life Service to follow the visitation beginning at 12:00 PM. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park following the service.
