Elise A. Dunkley

Elise was born on April 13, 1921 in Memphis, TN, the daughter of Irvin G. Alexander and Virna Jordan Alexander. She married Stuart Dunkley on April 22, 1939 in Memphis, TN.

Preceding her in death is her husband, Stuart Dunkley; parents; one brother, Irvine G. Alexander, Jr.; and one sister, Patricia Alexander Burrow.

Surviving are her daughters, Rebecca E. Dunkley and Susan (husband, Gerald) Dunkley Atwood; one grand-daughter, Kathleen Elise Atwood; one sister, Hilda J. Thomas; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and nephews.

A true homemaker, Elise was a dedicated mother. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family and especially with her grand-daughter, Kathleen. Elise was a great cook and a wonderful friend. She was a faithful member of Calvary United Methodist Church where she would often volunteer her time to many of the different committees and groups, and she enjoyed her time with the Ladies Circle.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care and kindness the Elise received from the staff at Woodcrest at Blakeford.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Elise’s honor to Calvary United Methodist Church or to the Nashville Humane Society.

Cremation rights have been accorded, and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
