Elizabeth (Betty) Arlena Riegel Mesner, age 95, passed away on Sunday, November 22, 2020. She was born on April 20, 1925 in Pittsburgh, PA to Clarence and Bessie Riegel. She is preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Mesner Jr, sister Martha Riegel, and son William Mesner III. Betty is survived by sister Margaret Riegel, daughter-in-law Sandy Mesner, grandson David Mesner and granddaughter-in-law Felicia Mesner.
Betty’s career included the family business as an accountant for Tennessee Aircraft Company where she said the hardest people to work for were her father, husband, and son. She managed to keep them in line and was a homemaker in Nashville for many years.
Betty was always a great conversationalist. Before graduating Moravian College in 1947, she was voted most popular in her class. She enjoyed getting to know people and loved finding ways to help them. Betty was magnanimous in generosity, evident in her giving spirit, volunteer work as a Pink Lady at Baptist Hospital, teaching Sunday school, and cub scout den mother - earning the District Award of Merit.
She loved her family, throwing parties, eating, world travel, painting, and music. She lived life to the fullest, rarely hesitated, and led by example to remain young at heart.
A Graveside service will be held at one o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday December 2nd at Woodlawn Memorial Park in the Christus Garden C. In lieu of flowers, contributions to Friends of Tennessee School for the Blind would be appreciated.
