Emily Buckner Turner White

Emily Buckner Turner White - Born on the 22nd of January 1924 in Campbellsville, KY to the late George Redman Turner and Elizabeth Buckner Turner, and passed away on the 12th of May 2014 in Nashville, TN at the age of 90.

Emily grew up in Campbellsville, KY and graduated high school in 1942. She went on to work in Oak Ridge for a time before going to the University of Tennessee to obtain her secondary education. She graduated from UT in 1947 with a degree in Home Economics and Education. In the same year, she married Jess H. White on the 20th of December. They shared three children together, and she gladly became a homemaker while the children were young; however, once they were older, she returned to school herself, and obtained her Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from MTSU in 1970. She then found a fulfilling career as a Guidance Counselor for many years at Ft. Campbell High School. After retiring from that position, she took on the role as House Mother for the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority at Vanderbilt University for many more years.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Jess H. White; and will be cherished in memory by those she has left behind, her children, Jess H. White, Jr, Elizabeth T. "Betsy" Ames and her husband Wayne, and Jonathan W. White and his wife Lisa; grandchildren, Alexander Ames, Jacob Ames, Phillip Ames, Lily-Kathryn Ames, Noelle Ames, and Kelsey White; four great-grandchildren; and sister, Anne Harris and her husband Gary of Santa Fe, NM.

A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, the 24th of May, 2014 at ten o'clock in the morning at Bellevue Presbyterian Church, 100 Cross Timbers Dr., Nashville, with a brief time for gathering with the family immediately following the service. Interment will proceed afterwards in Campbellsville, KY.
