

Eric Todd Susewind, 28, passed into eternal life on June 16, 2013 in Nashville, Tennessee. Eric was the Women’s Assist. Soccer coach at Cumberland University. A Memorial Service celebrating Eric’s life and legacy will be held at 1:00 PM on June 20, 2013 at the Troutt Theater of Belmont University. Arrangements are being handled by Woodlawn-Roech-Patton funeral home. Born June 20, 1984 in New Orleans, LA., Eric was raised in Houston, TX where he excelled in several sports at competitive levels; however, soccer was his life’s passion. Eric earned honors on the field throughout the years participating in Houston club soccer teams, Klein Forest High School, and TX & SE USA Regional Olympic Development Program (ODP). Electing to leave Texas for Tennessee, Eric was a four-year starter at Belmont University, where he continued to gain honors on both the offensive and defensive side of the pitch. He played four seasons in the Premier Development League with the Nashville Metros and the Indiana Invaders. He coached within the Tennessee United Soccer Club in Henderson, the Tennessee Futbol Club in Franklin, the Brentwood Soccer Club and on the Tennessee ODP State staff. Eric was an assistant coach at Belmont University for five years and most recently completed his first season as assistant coach for the Cumberland University Women’s soccer team. In the spirit of continuing to excel, Eric earned a USSF National B Coaching License to compliment his NSCAA Goalkeeper Regional and State licenses. Eric is survived by parents, Kenny and Bonnie O’Brien Susewind, Ft. Worth TX., brothers, Brian, Houston, TX., Phillip, Ft. Worth, TX., and sister-in-law Sarah, Houston, TX. Godparents are uncle Gregory Andert and aunt Nona Susewind Andert, St. Charles, MO. Eric was a constant source of optimism and encouragement for so many. He loved to keep his friends and family laughing with his quick wit and stories. Eric’s family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for prayers and comfort from many dear friends and family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions may be made payable to the Eric Susewind Memorial Scholarship Fund, 345 Sylvan Park Lane Nashville, TN 37209 for Tennessee Soccer Club to sponsor underprivileged youth the opportunity to play the game he loved!
