Ethel Louise “Lou” Cockrill passed away on May 11, 2026, at the age of 92. Known lovingly to many as “Lou” and “Granny,” she was the long-time founder and owner of the Round-Up Restaurant and a member of the Cedar Creek Yacht Club, both of which were important parts of her life and where she formed many lasting friendships and connections over the years.
She is survived by her children, Linda Parish and Mark Cockrill; her grandchildren, John Brew (Misty), Joseph Brew (Jessie), Michelle Widenhofer (Ryan), Kimberly Parish, Jared Cockrill, and Chrissy Cockrill; her great-grandchildren, Joey, John Patrick, Addy, and Ava; and her cousins, Greg Cook (Sandra) and Becky Binkley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Irene Bissinger and Robert Dedman, and by her longtime best friend, Dorothy “Dot” Clemons.
Lou will be remembered for her strong personality, fiery spirit, and keen sense of humor.
A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 660 Thompson Ln, Nashville, TN 37204, US, on May 18, 2026, from 1:30 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life at the same location on May 18, 2026, from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
