Evan C. Howell, Jr., 93, passed away on May 20, 2018. He is preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Evan and Edith Howell, and his daughter, Suzanne McCloud. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jo, his son, David (Bonnie), son-in-law, Bob McCloud; grandchildren, Jessica Crumley (Kevin), Daniel McCloud (Tayler), Morgan Howell, Joshua McCloud; and great-granddaughter, Madison McCloud.
Born on Nov. 16, 1924 in Nashville, Evan attended West High School and Vanderbilt University. He served four years in the Navy during World War II. He retired from Myers Truck & Caster Company as a Design Engineer in 1986. Evan was a founding member of Community Bible Church and spent several retirement years volunteering at Southern Hills Hospital and the American Red Cross. He was an active member of West End High Alumni Golf Group, an Eagle Scout and a Scout Leader. Evan also enjoyed camping, golf and woodcarving.
A Celebration of Life will be held be officiated by Pastor Byron Yawn, on Thursday, May 24, 2018 at eleven-thirty in the morning, Woodlawn’s Dignity Hall. Gathering of family and friends on Wednesday from four until eight o’clock, and from ten o’clock in the morning Thursday at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Bill Jordan, Daren Anger, Sheldon Searle, Dr. Christian Rhea, Dr. Larry Stack, David Mowery, Perry Stahlman, Chuck Moore and Dr. James Elrod
