Evelyn was born on June 8, 1929, the daughter of Carl Jenkins, Sr. and Eva Reno Jenkins. Her parents precede her in death. She married Horace Wallace Brown on February 10, 1950 in Nashville, and they just celebrated 70 wonderful years of marriage.
Surviving is her husband, Wallace; daughters, Cheryl Dobbs and Sandra Kaylor; grandchildren, Carrie (Robert) Allen, Jason (Julia) Dobbs, Whitney Kaylor, and Seth (Madeline) Kaylor; great-grandchildren, Cameron Allen, Katie Allen, Haven Kaylor, Grayson Kaylor, Hudson Kaylor, Lili Neer, and Lucy Neer; and one brother, Carl Jenkins, Jr.
A gracious hostess and good cook, Evelyn loved having family gatherings and hosting events and parties for Wallace and his colleagues. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed needlework and reading. When Evelyn wasn’t spending time with her family, hosting a gathering, or reading, you could find her traveling with Wallace or cheering on her Lady Vols or the Titans, watching UT Football, or even golfing. Evelyn loved watching birds, and she and Wallace had many bird feeders. Often, she would sit on their screened in porch and watch them. She even had many books to identify what each bird was. She enjoyed collecting things like owls, Santa’s and nutcrackers. She had quite the collection of each! She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, and she will be greatly missed
