Sisters–in-law, Tommie Smith (Laverte), Anna Johnson (Roy), Snookie Holden (Paul) and Frances Perkerson (Verner) . Survived by her daughter, Margaret Anne Crouse (Jim), son, Charles Rotier (Emme), daughter-in-law, Camille Rotier. Four grandchildren, Pat Rotier (Angela), Teresa Koeberlein (Michael), Jacob Crouse (Meghan) and Charley Rotier. Five great-grandchildren, Alex Koeberlein, Rachel Koeberlein, Mikell Rotier, Noah Crouse and Caitlin Perez.
Mrs. Rotier and her husband, John, opened Rotier’s Restaurant in 1945. She was beloved, and sometimes feared, by students from Vanderbilt and Father Ryan, local politicians, songwriters and singers, and anyone lucky enough to find their way to this hamburger joint. Always a straight talker, she would tell you what you wanted to order (even if you disagreed), take your cigarettes away, or make you clean up after yourself. But she would also love on your babies, lend you an ear, or put your ticket in the drawer, when you didn’t have funds to cover your meal.
She married into the Rotier family, becoming the wife of the baby brother to four sisters. Like herself, three of those sisters were widowed early in their long lives, and they, along with her sister, Virginia, were her closest friends. She is finally reunited with her husband, her son, and all her sisters. She will be missed by her remaining family, and thousands of customers that have come through the doors of Rotier’s in the last 69 years.
