Evelyn Salisbury, born in Milton, PA March 22, 1920 and passed on April 22, 2019 at 99 years old. Proceeded in death by her parents Lee Roy and Florence Shaffer, brothers Leon and Orville Shaffer, sister Alvereta Shaffer and husband, Vern I Salisbury. She is survived by her three sons, Dennis (Kris), Jerry (Bonnie), Scott (Miriam), seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Her family moved to Kent, Ohio when she was nine years old. She married Vern in 1941 and soon after he returned home after flying 50 combat missions in a B-25 bomber during WW2, they built a home in Gates Mills, Ohio. In 1957 the family now with three boys’, moved to Nashville, TN where Evelyn and Vern lived the rest of their lives. Evelyn was active in the church and while in Ohio, she served as junior choir director among other activities. She was an active member of Hamilton Creek United Methodist Church for the past 40 years and did much volunteer work. She was an accomplished pianist and taught piano lessons and sometimes played piano at her church. She loved the outdoors, gardening, fishing and boating. After retiring from teaching elementary school and while her husband was living, they would travel the country in their motor home enjoying nature, scenery, and historical sights, while making many new friends. Before their travels ended, they had visited all 50 states. Evelyn was a wonderful wife to Vern for almost 52 years, and a fantastic and proud mother of her three boys. She loved almost everyone and had many great friends.
Visitation Monday April 29, 2019 at Woodlawn Roesch Patton Funeral Home from one thirty until two thirty in the afternoon, funeral will begin at two thirty in the afternoon in Woodlands Dignity Hall.
