Florence Swinney (Britton) Sadler

Florence Britton Swinney Sadler, age 95 of Nashville, Tennessee, departed this life on June 18, 2021. She was born in Belgreen, Alabama on November 29, 1925 to the late, Luther G. and Ollie Florence Hester Britton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Herbert C. Swinney and James P. Sadler; grandson, Brandon Shepard; step-grandsons, Todd Brent and Davis Rice.

Florence graduated Valedictorian of her high school class. She graduated with honors, with an Associate Degree from Freed-Hardeman College. Florence succeeded her first husband Herbert C. Swinney, as President of Continental Church Builders, Inc., a position she held for 21 years.

Florence was a long-time and faithful member of West End Church of Christ, where she is survived by many friends. She became a member of Brentwood Hills Church of Christ and instantly made friends there as well.

Florence is survived by her daughters, Elaine (Jack) Arnold, Theresa (James) Van Dusen, son, Bob (Judy) Swinney; step-daughters, Linda (Milton) Shymlock and Debra (Tom) Rice; grandchildren, Kelly Green, Daniel (Annaliese) Swinney, Scott (Caitlin) Van Dusen, Shawn Van Dusen; step-grandchildren, Dana (Chris) Bricker, Doug (Sarah) Paige, Brandy Blanton, Kelby Shymlock, Jason Shymlock, Hunter Rice and Michelle Via; granddaughter-in-law, Stormie Wakefield; numerous great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. She was affectionally renamed, "Gan", by her grandson, Brandon.

A Gathering of Family and Friends will be held from one until three o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at three o'clock in the afternoon on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 in Dignity Hall of Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home with Ken Dye Officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers, The Forever Friends and the Tuesday Ladies Bible Class.

Active Pallbearers, Scott Van Dusen, Shawn Van Dusen, Chris Bricker, Douglas Paige, Milton Shymlock and Tom Rice.
